My name is Patricia Ibarra, and I am the Pu'uwai (heart) behind Ola Wai Doula Services. Childbirth is one of the most sacred and life-changing moments a parent can experience. As a mother and Grandmother (Kupuna), I have walked this journey myself many times. I have experienced the beauty and challenges of birth firsthand and understand the true value in having a caring, empathetic person by your side who trusts in your ability to go through childbirth and experience this memorable life event as anticipated, someone who can hold space for you while offering guidance, compassion and unwavering support. My passion to be a doula is driven by assisting and witnessing the power and resilience we are blessed with as women.
The Meaning behind the Name
"Ola Wai" meaning "Water of Life" is to symbolize the strength, flow and nourishment the birth embodies, just as water moves with grace, gentleness, and freedom to move with its natural rhythm. Childbirth is more than a physical event, it is a sacred rite of passage into new beginnings, a moment when the light of life is welcomed with unconditional love and gentle patience.
